Our Board of Trustees is led by Stephen Langford as Chair. Our Chief Executive is Jerry Hughes. You can download information about our key contacts, which explains who is who at BAT.
We also welcome new recruits to bring fresh skills and experiences to the Trust and help us develop and deliver our services. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in working with us.

Providing value for money - focusing on efficiency and offering competitive services in line with market value;
Improving outcomes for people with ASD - campaigning, lobbying and raising awareness of their needs;
Working together - building strong links and relationships with out valued partners and stakeholders at a local, regional and national level, and developing a strong core of volunteers and members to complement our staff team;
Listening to others - engaging with our service users, their families and carers, our staff, partners and fellow providers to hear their views and inform our thinking;
Ensuring equality - appreciating diversity and making sure people have access to the services they need, regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion or belief;

Our History
In 1981, a group of Bromley parents and professionals formed the Trust to raise local awareness of autism and to meet the urgent need for specialist residential provision for adults with autism, to enable them to live in their own local community.
As a result, the first community residential home for adults with ASD in the UK was opened in 1982 and pioneered a whole new model of care.
BAT became a registered charity in 1982 and a Company Limited by Guarantee in 1990.
We have developed expertise and experience in providing services and support to people with ASD and their families. We will continue to identify and provide a flexible response to their needs.
Services now include not only residential homes and supported living provision, but also domiciliary care services, a Day Service, a Family Service for families with children up to 18 and an Outreach Service for adults with ASD. We offer training for professionals and awareness-raising workshops for parents and carers.
In October 2010, our members decided to change our name from Bromley Autistic Trust to Burgess Autistic Trust.
The name change reflects the fact that we now offer services in other South East London boroughs, not just in Bromley. It also honours our founder trustees Janet and Bill Burgess.
